Final Trailer for Ballerina Teases High-Octane Action in John Wick Universe

If one thing is clear about the latest John Wick movie, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, it19s that Ana de Armas is serious about dancing with sharks. Set in the same universe as the megabudget crime films but starring new and returning characters, Ballerina is Keanu Reeves19 crime thriller franchise by other means. The film drops June 6, 2025, but for now, a new trailer has provided plenty of popcorn-ready action to tide fans over.

Ana de Armas Stars in Ballerina Spin-Off

Spoilers from earlier trailers follow. Don19t read if you haven19t had the chance to see the first two teasers yet.

Readers might recall that the John Wick movie franchise was first teased in 2014 when trailers for the as-yet-unannounced Keanu Reeves-starring Die Hard in a Suits action movie went viral. Eventually titled John Wick and set in an unexpected world of assassins who follow the professional rules of the Continental Hotel, the first Wick film was a surprise hit. Fast forward almost a decade and three sequels later, John Wick: Chapter 3 13 Parabellum remains a personal favorite, with Keanu Reeves duking it out against heavy hitters in his signature balletic style of violence.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina takes place during the events of John Wick: Chapter 3 13 Parabellum. In that film, Keanu19s eponymous assassin was declared 4excommunicado5 by the High Table after he murdered the head of an Italian crime family, Santino D19Antonio, on Continental Hotel grounds. Hunted by henchmen with a $14 million price on his head, Wick fled across New York City, asking for favors along the way and picking up allies before finally heading to the Ruska Roma crime family headquarters.

The Ruska Roma gang was led by a mysterious woman known as the Director (Anjelica Huston), who doubled as a trainer and choreographer for young dancers. In Parabellum, Huston19s character made a cameo as the dance teacher for a crew of pint-sized ballerina-killing machines. One of them was played by Unity Phelan, the young actress who appeared as ballerina Nandi in the big film. In the new movie, she19s set to take the lead, reprising her role as Eve Macarro, this time played by Ana de Armas.

The Russo Brothers Return, Others Depart

In addition to Ana de Armas and Anjelica Huston, the returning cast also includes Ian McShane reprising his role as Winston from previous John Wick movies. Winston, as most fans will recall, is the Continental Hotel manager and a great resource for locating Wick when he gets into trouble. Fans will also be treated to a posthumous appearance from late actor Lance Reddick, who played the Continental Hotel19s limousine driver and concierge, Charon. Reddick passed away in March 2023 and is set to have his final on-screen role in the film.

New cast members include Gabriel Byrne, who plays the Chancellor, the main villain of the film. The Chancellor is a mobster who has incited an entire town against Eve. Sharon Duncan-Brewster plays Eve19s mentor, Nogi, while Norman Reedus has a role as Daniel Pine. Catalina Sandino Moreno and David Casta7eda are also in the cast, though their characters and roles are still under wraps.

The Story So Far

The first trailer for Ballerina dropped in September 2024 and focused on Eve19s past. Orphaned young, Eve was recruited by the Ruska Roma to become one of their dancer-assassins. But her goal was one of revenge: Eve had been sent to the gang19s training facility with one mission: to avenge the murder of her father.

While the first trailer gave the film a personal and emotional bent, it also did away with much of the expected focus on John Wick. The popular assassin, played by Keanu Reeves, appeared for a fleeting moment in an ornate gold room. All this would change, however, in March 2025, when the second trailer dropped.

The Second Trailer Hinted at a John Wick Connection

Fans of John Wick will have no doubt noticed the snow. In addition to meeting Wick in the snow-covered wasteland, the second trailer promised more screentime for Keanu and Ana19s characters. It also offered a further glimpse into the film19s story. When Eve encounters Wick, the exchange between the two assassins is brief but meaningful. It19s a tip of the hat to longtime fans who know the lengths that John Wick will go to protect his friends and his reputation.

The final trailer, which was just released, may be the most action-packed of all. The trailer opens with a still shot: the face of Ana de Armas19 ballerina in extreme closeup, an assassin19s rifle aimed at her. The clip then cuts to sped-up sequences of previous and newly revealed footage, montaging together scenes of hand-to-hand combat and gunfights. It19s classic John Wick choreography and cinematography with Ana de Armas center stage.

Expect Vengeance, Expect Violence

In Ballerina, Ana de Armas plays the titular role. Her character is named Eve and was played by Unity Phelan in the original John Wick: Chapter 3 13 Parabellum. The first trailer revealed that Eve was an orphan taken in by the Ruska Roma to train as a ballerina. Unlike most of her fellow dancers, Eve was also trained as an assassin.

The final trailer shows Ana de Armas duking it out in an abandoned New York City borough against a type of wave after wave of skilled killers, which the John Wick series has become known for. The choreography is slick, the visual style as cinematic and evocative as the franchise demands, and Ana de Armas is committed to playing ballerina assassin to the fullest.
