Justin Bieber Shares Thought-Provoking DMX Clip Amid Faith, Family, and Album Buzz

Justin Bieber made headlines over the weekend after posting an Instagram Story with a cryptic message about drug use.

On Sunday, the 31-year-old singer, who has reportedly been working on plans for his first world tour in three years, shared an old video clip of rapper DMX. The video, which features the late rapper in a tense conversation with Iyanla Vanzant, was originally aired on her show Iyanla: Fix My Life in 2013.

In the footage, DMX – who later died in May 2021 – gets real with the self-help coach as he answers a question on being clean.

Vanzant asked him, “Do you want to live your life as a clean man?” To which the veteran rapper responded, “No weed, no drinking, nothing? Why would I?”

The coach, however, hit back at him by pointing out that being clean will make him “a clear, pure vessel for the voice of God”. An apologetic DMX responded, “I think I’m exactly where I need to be with God.”

The vocalist then changes the subject before Vanzant stops him, and he responds, “Fine”. He also added, “I need God. I know what I need.”

Justin Bieber reposted the clip from the account of a Los Angeles-based marijuana dispensary called ‘Gassy’ with no caption or explanation. The singer has left fans and followers speculating about his views on drugs.

Is It A Message?

Justin Bieber didn’t write any caption for the post, but he appeared to be sending a coded message about his views on smoking and substance abuse, especially weed.

The clip could be seen as a subtle jab from the Baby singer at rumors about his alleged use of illegal substances. Although he didn’t explain anything about the Instagram Story, his comments a year ago might have inspired his recent action.

Last year, Bieber went on IG Live to address fan speculations and reports that he was struggling with anxiety and exhaustion. In his video chat, Bieber also said that his marriage to Hailey Bieber is the best thing that has ever happened to him. He also stated that his relationship with God has “saved” him. Bieber and Hailey tied the knot in a private wedding in July 2018.

Justin Bieber has a reputation for staying clean. He is known to be quite spiritual in addition to his history with evangelical Christianity and Churchome pastor Judah Smith. The singer had his public doubts about his faith in 2019, but has publicly returned to Christianity on multiple occasions since then.

Fans are wondering how the Instagram Story video fits with Bieber’s sober and spiritual life, since the singing sensation and social media personality has had problems with drugs and alcohol in the past.

Photos Without Caption

The Instagram Story is not a direct statement, but it is interesting because it wasn’t posted by itself. The 31-year-old singer has been in the habit of posting selfies and images with bongs or smoke in the background over the last year.

Fans have noticed that the post may be related to concerns about the singer’s well-being. This follows reports that the singer may be suffering from long COVID, anxiety, and health complications.

It is also legal to use recreational marijuana in the state of California, where the married father of one currently resides with his wife and their less-than-12-month-old son, Jack Blues Bieber. According to a February report by TMZ, however, a representative of the Canadian native singer has denied that he’s ever used illegal substances.

The statement reads, “The recurring narrative that Justin is using hard drugs is absolutely not true. Justin is in one of the best places in his life. He is an amazing dad and is really locked into his music right now.”

The singer’s past year has been a very transformative year for him. He has also cut ties with many of his past business partners as well as some friends, which he needed to do.”

The singer’s representative stated that the past year has seen a shift in his life with significant changes that can only be seen as positive.

New Album and Tour

The month of July also marked another career milestone for the artist, after dropping his seventh studio album, Swag, on July 11. The critically acclaimed album, which was a surprise release by Bieber, contains a mixture of introspective songs, love songs to his wife and son, as well as comedic voice notes from social media star Druski.

The voice notes with Druski are, in fact, mock “therapy sessions” with the comedian and are intentionally used as comic relief for the personal revelations by Bieber.

Topics on the new album include references to his transformation and maturity over the years and how he transitioned from being the global face of teenage love songs to a doting father and husband in his thirties.

Fans and followers are left with some questions: Is Bieber taking his narrative back or distancing himself from certain expectations of clean living and piety?

Fans are also hopeful that Bieber will tour again soon since he is reportedly planning a world tour, with the first leg expected to start in Australia. Australian fans have been seeing a promotion on social media which goes by the hashtag #JustinBieberTBA (to be announced). However, Bieber’s management team or Frontier Touring hasn’t confirmed these dates yet.

Frontier Touring told Rolling Stone that it currently has “no information” on possible Australian tour dates. If confirmed, the tour will be Bieber’s first since his 2022 Justice World Tour was cut short. The news of a tour comes just a few months after a year of personal and business transformation for Bieber.
